Our One Year Anniversary

Hi to all blog readers,

This month is the first anniversary of living in our new home in Napier.

It's hard to believe that our second winter is now upon us. The first one here was quite a shock. It was so cold and we just weren't used to that, having lived in Auckland for years.
However, we soon got the hang of buying wood and having a lovely fire just about every night during the cold months.

It's so warm and cozy sitting in front of a fire each night. There's something comforting about watching the flames as opposed to viewing a heater. There's no comparison. I'm now an expert at lighting it and also chopping wood. That's because some of the pieces we get are too big and need splitting down to a manageable level.

Another benefit of living here, as opposed to our Auckland apartment, is having a vegetable garden. Right now we have some interesting plants growing. Broad beans, kale, mini-cabbages, Brussel-sprouts, mini cauliflowers, celery, and bunching onions. They're all doing well and every so often I water them as we've had no significant rain for ages.

Last night was very cold but today was beautiful. The sky was blue and the sun was warm, providing you kept out of the wind. Dan the weather man was right about how it was going to turn out. Thanks, Dan.

Goodbye for today,

Genesis
